Although beautifully crafted through its mesmerizing cinematography and diversed soundtrack, ''Tu Dors Nicole'' fails to establish any particular theme by dragging the audience through the romantization of boredom. What is so beautiful about nothingness? The fact that we've all experienced it...?

Stéphane Lafleur denies Nicole the angsty treatments given similar characters in films like The Graduate and Frances Ha by refusing to saturate the film with an undergirding sense of charm.

Robert Redford would like this movie. Similar to his many movies that simply show real life in a most interesting manner. Give large credit to the script -camera/cinematography ACTORS and casting. All were superb . No car chases-disasters-zombies-aliens-torrid sex scenes killings-explosions or the like. Just well paced dialogue and scenes all within the context supplied by the camera and the fine acting...or rather..fine NON-acting acting. Only thing missing is a bit more HAPPENINGS perhaps..not too much..but a few more salient scenes.

A strong French-Canadian picture that has some well-worn thematic material (the listlessness of post-collegiate life), but finds lingering sustenance in gorgeous black-and-white cinematography, and a sense of humor that's often charming.
