Wonderful Days (2003)

Civilization has been destroyed by war and pollution, but the survivors have built the last city of Ecoban. As most natural resources have been exhausted, Ecoban is powered by pollution. The citizens of Ecoban need to continue creating this pollution leading them into conflict with the inhabitants of Marr while one man just wants to clear away the clouds and see the sky.

The great animation and effects in this movie are let down by the plot. Too many cliched characters and events leave the film feeling quite empty.

Wonderful soundtrack, quite interesting story, and looked nice. Could watch it again someday with company.

Would liked to have seen more of Ecoban. The CGI sticks out like a sore thumb and makes you wonder what the point was in it. It's a great dystopia story though, albeit not the most original, and the overall visual style is fantastic. The city has a gothic cathedral influence with its enormous flying butresses and the workers city below are reminiscent of the slums in FF7 underneath the plates.

Possibly the best use of digital animation I've seen, this film has some amazing effects that could only be achieved through the art of CGI. The down side is that the female leda character is a bit of a let down in the storyline and the relationship between the characters is quite predictable
