I still can't get over Martin Scorsese endorsing this piece of crap. This represents the worst of korean cinema. Did I watch the same movie Scorsese did?? the film was praised for it's "honesty" and "realism" but to me it was more like "dull" and "pointless".

A story about two friends who meet after years and realise that they dated the same girl. It gets confusing later, too Korean to grasp!

The simple structure, unwinding over roughly 36 hours, unassumingly encompasses a lifetime of disappointment and inescapable male foolishness. It's quite a rich, absorbing spectacle.

As honest and voyeuristic as this film attempts to be, including the ubiquitous awkward sex scenes, the film generally fails to be interesting. Despite the title (I think?) a general misogyny persists throughout the film, and although we are presumably asked to question it, or at least to see it as inevitably human, we are also left with blowjobs as the only emotional connections these characters have. Otherwise, there is a lot of sitting and staring and drinking.

"Koreans just drink and have sex, because there's nothing else to do". Two men in their mid-late 20s compete against each other to see who can treat women the worst, and the women just accept it. One minor character speaks out. "You're so coarse," he complains, "you've got a real problem." He's besotted with one of the girls, but she sees nothing in him, preferring the danger of sleeping with her professor, who didn't even notice the guy was in the same class as her. It's like that.
