Provocative, even disturbing in its resistance to categorization, demanding from its viewers a response without the reassurance of psychology or narration.

I am surprised that this film does not carry a higher rating. This sad and realistic "re-visiting" of a romantic pursuit from two mens' past is powerful glimpse into humanity. Obviously influenced by The French New Wave, this is near-perfect film. Perhaps not for every taste, but most certainly for mine.

This is a film that haunts you long after you see it. It seems slight or confusing in a number of ways after you watch it, but it eventually sinks in (for me at least) that it is a strong indictment of human nature while at the same time a sympathetic view of human frustration, obsession, and selfishness. The very small role of the Chinese waitress is something like the moral center of the film. Hong makes sex scenes that are at once disturbing, erotic, and depressing.

This is AMAZING! 2nd Hong Sang Soo i've seen and i can already relate to a distinct auteuristic style. It is in a form of realist simplicity that does not overpower like Tsai. He situates his narrative on everyday and seeming mundane activities. This might it seem like its getting nowhere. But what he manages to capture are base human desires that motivate the simple daily affairs in life. I like how he lets scenes flow into a comfortable pace, lingering on even after executing its purpose. And it seems like right after such a technique achieves a meditative effect strongly rooted in realism, he would make a timely cut.
