Wolf Totem offers nothing but an exhilarating audiovisual experience. Its narrative is problematic as its murky messages do not penetrate too deeply. It's beautiful but forgettable.

While visually stunning, this Chinese French collaboration is melodramatic and narratively disjointed. It is a man-and-his-dog story meets outsider-learning-to-appreciate-a-new culture story, just set in a place unfamiliar to Western audiences.

Beautifully crafted, as expected from a film by Jean-Jacques Annaud, but a tad too long. Visually stunning, and raising familiar issues of traditional vs. modern way of life; And modern human expansion at the expense of nature. Stunning cinematography and I liked Feng Shaofeng in the lead.
