This movie was amazing. I was confused by it at first, but not because of the plot; The movie is just so odd but in a really good way. It's hard to pay attention to anything else, and you'll catch yourself thinking about it a lot after you see it.

Cam Archer's overtly stylized view of childhood sexuality is harmed by the intended approach which feels far too distant. That said, I suspect this artist has fully realized his vision. Unfortunately, this vision and the way in which Archer tells his story feels forced and feels too vague.

A dreamlike portrait of a young awkward boy unsure of and/or discovering his sexuality. At moments I found the movie a bit disturbing to watch - perhaps the director's intention was to make the viewer relate to the main character, but mostly one feels like a peeping tom. A distinct filming style anyhow, with intentional black screen moments leading the way from dreams to reality and back. I liked it. Extra points for the lovely ending song by Emily Jane White!

Visually, I knew I would highly enjoy this movie. Cam Archer directed a video for Xiu Xiu that was lovely. However, I think the thematic content of the film is very cohesive and universalizable: being an outsider in a heteronormative society has long been a part of film, especially independent film. What makes it work is the specificity with which the outsider is shown. The animal imagery is so potent, and the story is aided by the experimental nature of the piece. It is easy to see why Gus Van Sant helped produce this movie as Paranoid Park is in the same vein (albeit a bit more successful). However, I want to see more work from this director-- like now.

Muy notoriamente basada en la parte onirica del maestro Gus Van Sant, pero sin el efecto indicado. "Wild Tigers I Have Known" lo unico que tiene interesante es el titulo. Es larga... larga... larga... a pesar de solo durar 81 minutos no tiene nada interesante. Es la historia del crush que desarrolla un nino de 13 con uno de 18 que suena que le hacen todo tipo de cosas, ademas de disfrazarse de mujer, ser molestado en la escuela, etc. Solo para fans del genero.
