Audrey Hepburn was great, but the rest of the cast seemed miscast. Plus it was quite long.

Keeping in mind that this is a three and a half hour movie and based on a novel that's almost 800 pages long, I was actually surprised how much I liked it. Audrey Hepburn is brilliant as usual and though I wasn't really buying Henry Fonda in this movie, he eventually pulled me in. Granted, this movie cuts out a lot of detail from the book and boils it down to the bare essentials. Still, a pretty seamless movie.

Exceptionally long for a Hollywood feature it does make a fair attempt to get across the epic novel in its epic vein and as a costume drama it looks the part whether it is war or peaceful scenes. There's some big names in this although none of them really stand out in their roles, Herbert Lom is a however a decent enough choice to play Napoleon.

Although this movie is very long, I love it, it has it dull parts, but overall Henry Fonda and Audrey Hepburn are terrific

I wanted to know Audrey Hepburn... I did. She has ups and some downs too, but overall quality is good. Fonda did let me down though.
