Walkout is the true story of a young Mexican American high school teacher, Sal Castro. He mentors a group of students in East Los Angeles, when the students decide to stage a peaceful walkout to protest the injustices of the public school system. Set against the background of the civil rights movement of 1968, it is a story of courage and the fight for justice and empowerment.

It is an inspirational film that everyone should watch! Its based on the 1960 Chicano Movement in Los Angeles. Definetly gave me goosbumps and pride!!

Good story, strong direction from Edward James Olmos. Most of the cast is good, but a few are amateuris in their acting range. Laura Harring is particularly good. Moving and sensitively done.

This is an amazing movie! towards the end during the walkouts when they got beat up i cried! I don't know why but it just really hit me! A todos los chicanos! QUE VIVE!!
