What can I say, I like sureal film's, but my dad hated this. I fill that this film is more important now than it ever was. I also would like to say that this is the kind of film I expected el topo to be. Man was Walker ever crazy.

An interesting little semi-period piece of an indie film. It's a wee bit scatter shot in it's story telling, but still gets the message across. The message is one that has so much relevance in today's political arena. Watch and compare for yourself to the war in Iraq, etc.. I'll be a canned ham if history doesn't repeat itself.

Wow, what an amazing movie. I saw this in 1992 and wasn't as into it. Now I think I get it more. It is actually sort of a simple story and reminds me a lot of Herzog's South American/Kinski. Harris is such a perfect actor and in this role he runs all over, chewing the scenery but also underacting. This is one of few movies that reads like a good book. The Criterion is, of course, perfect.

"I understand and appreciate what Cox was trying to do with this film, really I do, but what I can't get past is the terrible execution, the bad characterization and the atrocious disregard for viewers intelligence. Maybe a completely noble miscalculation, but still a miscalculation."
