A little less convincing on the part where a single student getting huge attention.

While the premise is interesting, Unexpected, a film from director Kris Swanberg, lacks conflict from the very beginning, leaving our protagonist, Samantha, extremely flat.

Brian Miller 22 Jul 2015

[Swanberg] tries to be fair to all parties, which smothers the conflict with a warm blanket.

Geoff Berkshire 31 Jan 2015

Swanberg and co-writer Megan Mercier have crafted an incredibly generous film that wears its heart on its sleeve but never feels sappy or even sentimental.

Well meaning yet ultimately flawed drama that tries to address serious issues. Sadly ends up being a series of cliches that fail to do anything other than induce a deep sleep.
