A wonderful little story, with so many twists and turns that you don't even know who the heroine will marry in the end. As it turns out, she marries the man that we were hoping she'd marry all along. A somewhat different period film, but well worth the watch.

It was a hasty and shoddy representation of the novel, which I have not read but am assuming is much better. I understand from reading reviews of the book that much was skipped over in the movie. They could have greatly developed the characters and their relationships more if they would have stuck to the book. As it is, the characters are too flimsy to really be invested in. It's obvious what will happen from the start so in the first 10 minutes you'll know the whole story and can save yourself the other 80. I did enjoy a period piece that was not about the upper class. The movie could have gone far but it fell way too short.

Really cute, good acting, and even guys who can't stand 'period' movies can enjoy the competition over the girl. Very good. :)
