Twins of Evil (1971)

While dabbling in Satanism, Count Karstein resurrects Mircalla Karnstein who initiates him into vampirism. As a rash of deaths afflicts the village, Gustav the head of Puritan group leads his men to seek out and destroy the pestilence. One of his twin nieces has become inflicted with the witchcraft but Gustav's zeal and venom has trapped the innocent Maria, threatening her with a tortuous execution, whilst Frieda remains free to continue her orgy of evil.

Aboot on par with what you'd expect from the Hammer films ie. amusing in retrospect and has that charming edge to it brought on by it's seeming naiviety and enjoyable indulgence in a much more subtle style of horror that has since fallen out of favour. Certainly no match for the likes of the Coppola Dracula (then what gothic horror is?) this is certainly worth the giggle and provides reliable if unexceptional entertainment.

Alright Hammer Horror picture from their bodice ripping cycle of films. This one tells the story of an attractive set of twins, Mary Collinson and Madeleine Collinson, one of whom is the good girl and the other is the bad one who becomes a vampire. There are mistaken identities when the vampire hunt begins and it's fairly predictable, but Collinson sisters are quite good (even if their voices were dubbed) and Hammer delivers their usual quality production values. Peter Cushing is also on board here as a fanatical vampire hunter.
