Yuck. Bickering couples are a staple of screwball comedy, but instead of banter this movie is full of straight-up emotional abuse and lacks a single moment of levity. Barrymore and Lombard are asked to play two melodramatic hams and still overshoot their marks, making an already unlikable script even harder to watch.

I know that John Barrymore is one of the best!

Often credited as the first screwball comedy… an acerbic satire of show-business ego and superficiality.

screaming all your dialogue and acting mentally unstable while constantly arguing with the dial turned up to 11 does not equal funny.
