Great look, great cast ... but everything just sits there like a tableful of delicious ingredients waiting for a master chef who never shows up.

How all of this could have been played so straight - and ended up so politely dull - will bend minds for years to come.

Perhaps if this film had been crafted as a screwball comedy it would've been more effective.

The historical backdrop was interesting context but ultimately led to a predictable ending. Vikander and Waltz have strong performance as usual, but ultimately the supporting cast is lack luster and the plot is slow.
