The quality of the cast and the level of craftsmanship ensure a superficially entertaining film, but you suspect it could have been so much more.

As Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) piles on the coincidences and misdirections, the movie finally collapses under its own schematic weight, and wilts to the ground.

very good movie, beautiful cinema, and serendipitous plot, well acted. Perhaps some would need to know history,and have traveled to Europe to appreciate it. If you know nothing of the insanity of the TULIP 'stock market' and it's crash either read about it or don't go.

Jumbled plot, bad editing, confusing cuts. Great cast Alicia Vikander, Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger, all their efforts can't save this muddled film. Kept hoping it would find its footing, but it failed.

Nearly every role is miscast, which is rather amazing. Christoph Waltz and Judi Dench (as an abbess) are perhaps the exceptions.
