Great acting but doesn't gp anywhere.

The problem is that while the children are lovely because they are children, there is nothing inherently interesting about them or their lives.

I crossed. It's the sort of "slice of life" that defies words, which is perhaps why these little girls and their overwhelmingly grey world are rendered in such quietude.

With its subtle emphasis on how these girls learn (clue: it's the hard way), the result is something like an Eastern take on Samira Makhmalbaf's "The Apple"... These two actresses will break your heart: you start out wanting to give them a hug, and end up scrabbling to adopt them as your own.
