The movie reveals the true face of Japan in the past and our society in present. The search for the true love ends in a disturbing awakening. A cold society which is dominated by success and functional beeings. Men lead companies and in doing that they tend get masochists. On the other side a women searching for the true love which dissappears in a brutal reality where betraying is normal, nobody wants to invest anything into relationsships and any sex phantasy can be realized by paying for it. Definetely worth a look if you are interested in Japan or true facets of many societies. Good choice Arte!

Tokyo Decadence is a story about a girl that feels that she really serves no point in life so she starts working for a call girl service, quickly jobs start to get weirder and weirder. Directed by the author that wrote the book and starring a cast of nobodies the film moves along quick enough, but like most sex films the viewer is left with the question, what's it all mean? Make what you want to out of it between the sex scenes and all the drugs done this film lives it's NC-17 rating.

Ryu Murakami's a great author (and director). Ryuchi Sakamoto's a great composer. An overall wonderful film about adult exploration and (of course) decadence.

Very good, but at times confronting viewing. For the first half it just seemed to be a lot of detailed sex scenes (though not overly graphic apart from female nudity). I was a bit worried the whole thing would be like that with no real point to the movie. Thankfully there is a moral to the story, and that's not overly pleasant viewing either, but it is thought provoking.
