To the Sea (2010)

Before leaving for Rome with his mother, five year old Natan is taken by his father, Jorge, on an epic journey to the pristine Chinchorro reef off the coast of Mexico. Extremely beautiful and charming. Cinema needs more movies like this.

Gentle. Peaceful. Beautiful cinematography. Charming story of father and son adventures in a utopic part of mexico.

I was surprised to have been touched by this movie. I thought I was going to watch a nature documentary. But as it turns out, it was more about a father-son relationship, making the most of their time before sayIng goodbye, knowing they won't see each other for a very long time. The movie did not try to be touching, but I'm left thinking what's happened after their parting.
