This could have been a a really sympathetic story if it had dealt more with the complexities of having to face the reality of being a full-size adult carrying the dwarfism gene. Insteasd, it is reduced to a rom-com with dwarves. Gary Oldman and Peter Dinklage are convincing, Patricia Arquette's character contributes nothing, and Kate Beckinsale is simply a fool to herself for not getting to even meet her husband's family before falling pregnant. Unsatisfactory conclusion leads audience totally bereft of empathy for any of the cast.

How was this movie made? I mean honestly. Also, why cast Oldman when there are plenty of little people who could have filled the role? It's interesting how offensive the entire movie is. I assume this was something like the Producers in real life.

As much as I love Gary Oldman, I think this film would have been more effective if they had actually cast a dwarf as Rolfe. It was great to see a film about an issue that hasn't really been touched until recently. I thought Matthew McConaughey's performance was a bit contrived at times. All in all, I enjoyed watching this film.

Nothing fantastic, considerably more drama than comedy, but quite a good film over all. worth watching just to see kate beckinsale in some rather tasty get-ups :)
