This movie is one of my all time favorites. George Lucas at his best and most thoughtful. An SF classic. The theater-of-noise soundrack is worth the price of a rental alone.

A visually stunning depiction of a bleak and depressing future. A mixture of " A Brave New World" and "1984". One of the best Sci-Fi films I've ever seen, Lucas proved himself with this one.

A dystopia where people are monitored, feelings are shared to a computer with automated responses, sexuality is strictly prohibited by law, and Donald Pleasence follows Robert Duvall around because he wants to be his roommate. Welcome to pre-Star Wars George Lucas. While it does borrow from other dystopian tales, this stands out as a wonderfully carried out drama with great actors. A very trippy ride into the future.
