A cult classic, but I don't know why. Has some novely value, I'll agree to that but apart from mayne 2 minutes of car chase action (in the entire movie) this is not espacially good. Though the film is not that long it still manages to be a bit boring, and the acting is really bad sometimes. Robert Mitchum is good though.

The definitive road movie (1958), the well from which all the genre’s subsequent blessings flow.

John Beifuss 14 May 2015

Bruce Springsteen borrowed its title and Burt Reynolds appropriated its anti-'revenooer' appeal, but just shy of its 60th anniversary, 'Thunder Road' remains very much the property of its actor-as-auteur leading man, Robert Mitchum.

More proof that cult classics don't need to be good to be classic.
