I can't really describe what happened. I do know that I was extremely entertained by it.

A mystical, science fictional, metaphysical, horrorifical mishmash. A talented cast of notables puts in their time in giving very professional performances in this perplexing and disjointed experience. Seems like an attempt to throw together a movie that would satisfy fans of all the the sf/horror/spiritual/psychedelic genres which had a following at the time all at one but never settles into a satisfying story of its own. There's some fun, kooky stuff along the way, though.

There are movies, and there are movies that make you say, WTF WAS THAT. This my friends, is one of them, a mishmash of Carrie, the Omen, and, yes, The Woman From Shanghai mixed in with a heavy synthesiser score.. AND it has John Huston, Glenn Ford, Sam Peckinpah AND Shelly Winters just slumming it for this.,. whatever it is. I can't even tell you what it's about. Something about an evil girl, and how there should be more, and John Huston is there doing light shows.. or SOMETHING. Just plain weird.

It's the Exorcist meets the Holy Mountain. I totally dug it.

The Visitor might be a hot mess, the byproduct of tailspinning egos and the best drugs movie money could buy in the late 70s, but it certainly isn’t an accident.
