Violent and dark yet utterly fascinating and powerful, Akira is a landmark in animation filmmaking. With effective characters, a vastly interesting setting, a perfectly fitting and memorable soundtrack, and brimming with iconic/symbolic imagery, Akira is the prime example of an anime that actually works.

Amazing animation, especially for the time, a pounding, almost primal, soundtrack, an amazing story, great characters, and one of the greatest mind-bending endings ever make this one of my favorite movies.

I have a real bad vibe about this movie. There are some piece of art that should never get remade, and this is one of them. Especially if Dicapprio is in it!
