A beautiful statement on society and the dangers of imprisoning oneself by fear. History will remember The Village as one of the most misunderstood and underrated films of all time.

Night is brilliant. Any movie he makes I will go see, buy and study. He always foreshadows his endings but yet we never see it coming. This movie comments on America's current culture of fear and represents one of the great works of art to come from America's current dark age. Genius writing!!!

The Village is horribly underrated and misunderstood, perhaps the product of erroneous expectations. The film is one of my all-time favorites. The less you know, and the fewer expectations, the better. Intriguing story, excellent acting, beautiful writing, and deft direction make a wonderful film that I have watched several times, both in the theater and in my home, and enjoyed immensely each time.
