The Upside of Anger (2005)

After her husband runs off with his secretary, Terry Wolfmeyer is left to fend for herself -- and her four daughters. As she hits rock bottom, Terry finds a friend and drinking buddy in next-door neighbor Denny, a former baseball player. As the two grow closer, and her daughters increasingly rely on Denny, Terry starts to have reservations about where their relationship is headed.

Well written; no dialog seems artificial. Great independent film. I enjoy "THE SCENE" as well.

A heartwarming movie of growth and change. Costner and Allen really shine in this movie of truth and vigilance and make it aparant what means the most in life. Evan Rachel Wood shows promise of a teenage girl who understands all too well the feelings and emotions of humans and shows amazing insight into her character. A great movie...and one of my favorites.

Not a single weak performance in this well-written drama. Joan Allen is superb as the caustic suburban housewife who's permanently pissed 'cos she perceives her husband has run off and deserted her. Kinda saw the twist comming, but it did not detract from the meat of the movie. Joan Allen is SUPERB, and Kevin Costner gives a credible, if not characteristically "golly-gee-wow", performance as the long-suffering man-child drunk. A must see.

Mike Binder is a great director (totally underrated). This movie and Reign Over Me kick ass! I really dig the style. Joan Allen is great as a super bitch.
