Kiarostami's first feature is a juvenile story in which sweetness and bitterness are well-blended. It is birth of his style which is something you'd wanna call it "Iranian neo-realism" under direct influence of Italian neo-realism. Also, this film proves that just a boy walking around can be a film.

Kiarostami is the living proof of my theory that Great Directors are essentially great photographers. I'm also impressed with his ability to handle a set that has over 100 children in it. He commands both his camera and his cast beautifully.
