Superb and unique film about a landmark psychological case of multiple personalities, founded on a masterful and insightful -- and ferociously entertaining -- performance by its genius star.

Very interesting movie, especially if you consider that it's a true story. It does suffer a little from age though. We get a sense of "been there, done that," even though most movies about multiple personality disorders are fiction. But Joanne Woodward's strong performance helps carry this movie to the finish line. And what I like more than anything else, is that this film doesn't go for shallow shocks (in general) like a modern movie would. It's addresses the real-life conundrums of what it would be like to have three distinct identities existing within one person.

This is the old "sybil". Or something similar to it. It's a classic/old time movie. But so much emotion- it kinda drains you just watching the movie in the comfort of your own home.

Joanne Woodward does an excellent acting job, playing three different personalities. Decent story, but it didn't grab me as much as I hoped it would. Still, it's a great idea and the story is executed fairly well.

Woodward is the reason to see this. the factual presentation rather than a dramatized account slows it down. the best story element is deconstructing why she developed the personalities and that's done so well similar to a hitchcock or fritz lang climax.
