Uneven Danish film about children's fear of adults.

A wonderfully made little Danish gem. A class of 6th graders discover that the new substitute is an alien. Of course, the parents don't believe them and the teacher is an expert at manipulation. It puts aside the usual, alien conquers the world story and goes for one of an alien trying to understand love and empathy. It's actually a way of saving her own species, rather than dooming ours, though she doesn't go about it in the best way. It looks good, but also plays it a bit too serious.

As a story, Vikaren is lacking. But one the other hand, it is just a simple little film with one of the best children casts ever in a Danish film. And on top of that, the greatest Danish actress of her generation gives one of the funniest performances of the decade. Paprika Steen IS this movie - and it's one hell of a time...!

Second in the Ghost House Underground films that I've seen and they fucking hit it out of the park, it's gonna be hard to top this. An alien comes to Earth to learn about love and takes the form of a teacher who pretty much makes fun of all the kids and can read their minds, the kids realize she ain't human and...well...shit happens, it's more funny than scary and there really isn't any gore but man, it's entertaining and the kids are all pretty good actors which was surprising. Paprika Steen steals the movie though as the teacher, fucking hilarious.
