great little quirkfest of a film. lots of interesting visuals. great kid actors. great tension. plenty of fun.

This surprisingly spooky foreign film will keep you on the edge of your seat. No, the character buildup isn't stellar, and certain subplots go undeveloped, but overall you will find this film to be a delightful respite from the typical American horror flick. The premise is simple: a class of students suspects that their long-term substitute teacher is not human. Okay, sounds like a knock-off of, "My teacher is an Alien"--a fairly popular kid's book, but give this movie a try: you will be pleased.

This is an enormously entertaining film. The plot is a little silly and it's full of inconsistencies, but the performances and the visual style overcome these quibbles. Watch it in Danish with subtitles rather than the dubbed version. The vocal performances of the dubbed voices don't compare to the originals.

As a story, Vikaren is lacking. But one the other hand, it is just a simple little film with one of the best children casts ever in a Danish film. And on top of that, the greatest Danish actress of her generation gives one of the funniest performances of the decade. Paprika Steen IS this movie - and it's one hell of a time...!

really weird, with a couple of decent scares. didn't like the ending, it thought it was a little too quick and easy
