Percy, upon being released from prison, goes to the small town of Gillead, to find a place where she can start over again. She is taken in by Hannah, to help out at her place, the Spitfire Grill. Percy brings change to the small town, stirring resentment and fear in some, and growth in others.

It's got some cheesy moments and the acting sometimes feels a bit off, but other than that, this is a solid little tearjerker that's well worth seeing.

Slow and savory, with believable characters and a great story. The whole thing is perhaps a bit too serious though.

I totally enjoyed this film about starting over in a small town in Maine by a young girl with a checkered past. A 1996 Sundance Film Festival award winner.

one of the best dramatization of biblical themes that i am aware of. wonderful and moving story of how one person changed and "saved" a community that had fallen by the wayside for various reasons. outstanding.
