It's refreshing to see an old subject dealt with in the open and original manner that The Snapper handles pregnancy. The marriage of humor and drama is admittedly imperfect, but it works well enough to occasionally spawn laughter and touch the heart.

The film takes us from the moment a young single woman tells her parents she's pregnant until she gives birth. It's 85 min. of pain, stubbornness, anger, and humour followed by 5 min. of pure giddy joy. Rarely has a film shown more clearly how the arrival of a baby wipes out the memory of the mess that went before. Enjoyable from start to finish.

One of my favourite comedy movies to date. I agree with the other reviewers, that it is a bit scandalous. Some parts leave me feeling a little "icky".
