The Silent House (2010)

Laura and her father Wilson arrive at a cottage off the beaten path in order to repair it since its owner will soon put the house on sale. They will spend the night there in order to start the repairs the following morning. Everything seems to go on smoothly until Laura hears a sound that comes from outside and gets louder and louder in the upper floor of the house. Wilson goes up to see what is going on while she remains downstairs on her own waiting for her father to come down. The plot is based on a true story that occurred in the 1940s in a small village in Uruguay. La casa muda focuses on the last seventy eight minutes, second by second, as Laura tries to leave the house unharmed and discovers the dark secret it hides.

This is definitely not a one take film, as hyped. And to add to it, it plays out as a mediocre horror flick.

One continuous shot?! amazing. this movie looks so freakin scary and will make me look behind me constantly for weeks.... must see!

The claim that this was filmed in one solid take grabed me to watch, but obviously this is a false claim, and film itself while in long takes and taking many films in like the french film Them and to a degree spanish film REC does fail on many levels also, young woman walking around dark house has been done better, as mentioned in above films for example. a major diasapointment from what i been hearing.

I am hoping the American version is better. It was good and had some real scary moments and the use of the camera has some brilliant moments. It is short, which is good since it is exhausting to watch.
