Yeah, it is not a love story. For those of you seeking character development and plot twists, watch a drama. This is a story of a single battle, told persuasively and heroically in an effort to rehabilitate the brave soldiers who had been treated like cowards for political purposes. The movie explains the outrageous odds against them due to an overwhelming mercenary enemy and conniving politicians who viewed them as pawns on a chess board. I thought it told the story of the men on the ground very well.

Awesome story about the cowardice of the UN leadership and the bravery of the Irish UN peacekeepers who fought a battle they were not prepared for. Accentuated the growing dissatisfaction of the inefficient UN, especially in the new Trump world.

Incredibly solid historical drama/action film. Educational, in the sense that I learned something new and came away wanting to know more. I've not the eye for minor deviations, but the period dress and equipment all look superb and perfectly authentic, and a great blend of practical and CGI effects. It feels real, and puts you on edge. Some deep themes on geopolitics and the pointlessness of the Cold War if you want to read in that far. Won three awards at the Irish Film & Television Awards (best director, best supporting actor, best VFX) and it's easy to tell why.

This deserved a much bigger general release. Some great action and a solid historical story. The Irish Government and their mainstream political parties were and always will be subhuman filth. Doran is great as the Kerryman leading his inexperienced and under armed troops into a six day battle. Mark Strong as always as the horrible cunt that is Cruise O' Brien.
