Great film with two fine actors: Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer. Exciting true story of the Scarlet Pimpernel of the Vatican, Msgr. Hugh O'Flaherty who spirited out of Nazi hands Jews, captured soldiers, and anyone in danger of death from the Nazi occupiers of Rome in World War II. His main foe, a Nazi colonel and governor of Rome, played by Plummer, seeks to assassinate him. This was a TV movie and its production value is excellent. Peck shines in his role as the mild-mannered priest who dons disguises, pleads with popes, risks his own life, and saves countless thousands. In a modern world short on heroes, this film goes a long way to restore one's faith in the nobility of humanity.

What an extraordinary movie! Excellent acting and plot. It also highlights a very important historical event and presents an excellent role model of the Catholic priesthood in the characterization of Mons. Hugh O'Flaherty.
