This movie had the feel of a TV movie from the 1970s. Practically the only thing interesting is a cameo by Roger Moore, who looks rather like a really bad Madame Tussaud's wax dummy. Eliza Dushku, looking rather anorexic, is the better actor in the Saint/Patricia Holm duo; Rayt Marius and John Henry Fernack prove only that the screenwriter(s) have read at least one Saint book by Leslie Charteris. They've added a totally messed up backstory for the name Templar and brought the action forward into the 2010s, but it's not the Brighter Buccaneer I was hoping for. Adam Rayner gives a good impression of Wesley on the TV series "Angel"; his only saving grace is that he's better than Val Kilmer was. OTOH, who wouldn't be?

No one can replace Roger Moore's original Saint but I enjoyed this version.

So very awful. One of the most painful movie experiences I've had in a while. Eliza Dushku must be nearly broke and Roger Moore should know better than to be caught in this. I would have asked to be taken off the credits.

Despite the negative feedback be read here.... I loved this film. It is what it is .... tongue in cheek and thoroughly entertaining! No, it's not James Bond .... it was never meat to be nor pretends to be! Loved the fact that Ian Ogilvy .... the Saint I grew up watching with my dad, is playing the villain.

The Saint has seen several incarnations over the years, among other things a radio show in the 40s and the TV show in the 60s with Roger Moore. The major problem with this version, is that it feel very 1990s. That may have been quite ok, you know, in the 1990s, but here it the formula feels very formulaic. This is too bad, because at times it really is quite entertaining. Weren't you supposed to have a higher academic degree to join the FBI? Apparently the screen writers didn't really consider that. Anyway, The Saint as such is a very interesting setup, but that ultimately fails to deliver the real goods due to the bad scripts. Production and acting is ok I guess. I am still waiting for the iteration of The Saint, perhaps in a decade or so. Sigh.
