An intriguingly beautiful and ethereal enigma of a surrealist film. Feels like an enchanting dream. Definitely requires multiple viewings. The Brothers Quay don't follow any fairytale narrative conventions; they invent their own and their own way of telling a story. Lovely if a bit puzzling.

Dreamy, borderlines incomprehensible and consciously obscured in its plot and imagery, The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes summons a surreal, confusingly sleepy experience. If not for the bold concepts, visuals, and amazing sound designs, it would been rated lower for the overconfident esoteric quality. Heavy in lighting contrasts, monotonic and illusory in hues, the film's most captivating elements lie in its fantasy settings. Cryptic narratives, on the other hand, were too hushed and confounding to grab attention. Artistically successful but not very enjoyable to watch.

Between a 5/10 and 6/10. Though visually stunning and brilliantly original, the film will connect only with those few attuned to the Quays' allusive wavelength, much as a dog responds to a whistle. Others won't hear a thing.

sinister, seductive and beautiful. the use of sound and imagery is outstanding and almost reminiscent of some of lynch's films. certainly not everyone's cup of tea but i great watch if you like films with mystery and atmosphere.
