Good movie but it seems they bit off the 1925 & 1943 and put it in one.

I'm as a big of a fan of Hammer Horror as anybody, but this just isnt my favorite adaptation of Leroux's novel. Especially since a) it bears no resembalance to the original novel b)The mask was shit c) They changed Erik's name to Professor Petrie! Like what the hell! I liked the Gothic atmosphere, but eh it isnt my cup of tea. If you want to watch a good Hammer Horror film watch Horror of Dracula.

Hammer version of the much filmed tale, curiously lacking in horror, though Michael Gough (famous as Alfred in the Batman movies) is thoroughly reprehensible as the evil Lord D'Arcy.

Hammer's version of the story. The way in which this is told through the characters, the lighting, and the screenplay make this a gripping and enjoyable watch. This is another Hammer classic.
