One of Bogie's best. Leslie Howard is fantastic as is Bette Davis (and this coming from someone who is not a Bette Davis fan). Great film.

"Well, let me tell you something. You're a forgetful old fool. Any woman's worth everything that any man has to give: anguish, ecstasy, faith, jealousy, love, hatred, life or death. Don't you see that's the whole excuse for our existence? It's what makes the whole thing possible and tolerable." Classic.

I loved it, despite Bette Davis. She's beautiful in this film. Absolutely stunning. But she really overacts. And I loved Bogey, but can anyone tell me what the deal is with his arms in this movie? If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. I think it would be a great stage play to produce.

I am a huge fan of "Of Human Bondage" and seeing Davis and Howard together again just made this film even more enjoyable. Howard has a certain style which allows me to relate with his characters a lot more than others, and thus I enjoyed all of his dialogue. Bogart was great, and probably gave the movie most of it's legs. Davis' role wasn't as pronounced but she played the part of the windswept girl pretty darn well. All in all, the story is a good one, and the tear-jerker ending helps too.

Terrific performance and an intelligent script in this compelling thriller.
