The film features stunning third-act revelations that compel viewers to rethink its characters' actions and motivations.

Well-told, though it feels slightly manipulative. And the turn in the last 5-10 minutes, though helping the endgame of the doc, is pretty unsettling.

What starts as a conventional doc about the rough times of one midwest community morphs into a powerful indictment on morality, religion, and community. Comparisons to Steinbeck notwithstanding, the questions this film raises far surpasses what most narrative films are even attempting these days. One of the best docs of the year.

This is a good solid documentary that will stick with you for a while. Seems too dramatic to be true but captivating nonetheless.
