Dull and programmatic in equal measure, The Ones Below seeks to thrill with its Polanski-tinged pregnancy drama but mostly ends up insulting its audience's intelligence with an obvious endgame and cheap stabs at paranoid dread.

It's well made but the whole movie felt pointless. A lot of people will not like the ending.

Wow what a cheery little tale this one is. The Brits sure know how to do 'bleak'. Very creepy and disturbing psychological thriller perhaps slightly reminiscent of the 1944 film Gaslight. I think towards the end the rehashing and explanation of the events that occurred was unnecessary and kind of an insult to the audiences intelligence as if we are too stupid to figure it out for ourselves. This could have been a much better film if it was left up to us to make our own interpretations ie whether we thought she was going a bit insane with post natal depression or whether the ones below were really psychos. Overall I really liked this film and recommend watching alone in a darkened room.

It's the 2016 version of "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" and Laura Birn is the new Rebecca De Mornay. And I like "The Ones Below" more because it doesn't need any typical jump-scare or psycho-chasing moments to create a really chilling and nail-biting atmosphere. The plot is a bit slow-paced and quite predictable, but thanks to its great direction and good cast, this thriller successfully stands out among its genres.
