While "Room 237" sought evidence for its most outlandish conceits, The Nightmare declines to delve. As the testimonies grow repetitive, the strategy suggests willful ignorance.

This in depth documentary gives us an inside look at an all to real condition known as sleep paralysis and the terrors that people experience.

I liked this movie because it was from the eyes of those who live it (like myself) and not strictly from a medical stance. While I actually sufferer from sleep paralysis and agree with most scientific avenues of said event, there are just some rare events which are shared with multiple people present that tie into actual related situations dreams etc, that can't simply be dismissed through scientific reasoning. Some cases of these repeat exceptional phenomena as they transpire, are not know by other parties who are randomly involved in the event as it takes place. I find some of this film covers said examples well, and mentions how on said occasions, circumstances aren't fostered by necessarily the humdrum easily explainable run-of-the-mill sleep paralysis experience, and take on a more sinister avenue.

A well-intentioned and novel representation of a sensitive subject that doesn't carry itself well enough in act three to merit a truly great documentary, but it does a damn good job overall (NOTE: I saw this with the director's Q&A following, which bumped it up a notch or two)
