The wealthy and impulsive Rollo Treadway decides to propose to his beautiful socialite neighbor, Betsy O'Brien. Although Betsy turns Rollo down, he still opts to go on the cruise that he intended as their honeymoon. When circumstances find both Rollo and Betsy on the wrong ship, they end up having adventures on the high seas.

Keaton und die Maschine: In THE NAVIGATOR gerÃ¤t Buster, ganz Ã¤hnlich wie im spÃ¤teren Meisterwerk THE GENERAL, zwischen die RÃ¤der der Weltpolitik und erlangt so arglos die FÃ 1/4hrung des Schiffes "Navigator". Gemeinsam mit seinem Love Interest Betsy gelingt es ihm, sich einen vollstÃ¤ndig kontrollierbaren Lebensraum zu schaffen - der freilich immer Mikrokosmos bleiben muss. Die Fahrt der Navigator ist (und bleibt auch Ã 1/4ber das Ende des Films hinaus) ziellos, eine gezielte Fahrt wird Ã 1/4berhaupt nicht in Betracht gezogen. Die "unendliche Fahrt", jenes zentrale Motiv der Moderne, scheint der Preis, den Keatons Held zu zahlen hat fÃ 1/4r ein Ã 1/4berschaubares Leben, und die scheinbare "Rettung" - die Reintegration in die Weltgeschichte, die hier stets auch MilitÃ¤rgeschichte ist - durch ein auftauchendes U-Boot kÃ¶nnte letztlich auch nur die Integration in einen weiteren Mikrokosmos sein.

- Watched for the 2nd time, on blu-ray this time. Such a funny and creative film with some very funny sequences. This is a must watch! - I loved this film. I am not as familiar with Buster Keaton as I am with Chaplin, so wanted to see some more of his stuff. Glad I did as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some really great slapstick here. Highly recommended!

Loved Buster Keaton as a kid and havent seen any for years but they were laugh out load after so many years. His deadpan acting made the whole film cole alive.

Really entertaing silent film from Buster Keaton. It's about two rich people set adrift in the middle of the ocean on a old steam ship. Keaton and McGuire are great together as they try to adapt to sea life without any help from maids and butlers. Many funny gags that still work today and it is beautifully shot. One of Keaton's best.

Extraordinary! I laughed a lot since the start of it. The way one thing takes you to another in a simphony of humor and innocent gags. This is, also, the first movie I watched with Buster Keaton...and glad to.
