"Sometimes I like to sit outside, by a window, and listen to music... like now," says Jimmy Stewart, sitting outside no where near a window, with no music being played. It's a very decent Western. Parts of it seem superfluous, and the second string acting is sub-par, but James Stewart is tip-of-the-hat good, as usual. For a better use of the Anthony Mann and J. Stewart one-two punch, watch Winchester '73.

One of the greatest westerns ever and possibly the best collaboration between Mann and Stewart. You have got to love the interplay between the male characters, with Leigh's presence there only to undermine the uneasy alliances. A must-see.

It's decent, hard to discount anything with Jimmy Stewart, but it could've been a real character study if a little more depth would've been put into Howard's character. It would've made his turn to bounty hunting that more meaningful. If I have one complaint, it's that it drags a little, but that's largely due to it being a story of the human character than a stereotypical shoot-em-up western.
