This is a beautiful, moving and somehow faith-filled piece of work. While De Niro and Day Lewis lead the way, this movie would not carry without the people, the landscape and the haunting and beautiful work of Ennio Morricone.

beautiful cinematography. stunning, in fact. this combined with a excellent story built on well-developed characters makes for a truly tasty piece of film. the performances are on the melodramatic side, but that's the feel of the picture, so i can't fault them for that. this was the film that showed me cinema could be art and broke my cinephile cherry.

Sweeping epic. It will simply humble you and other movies. Pure class act. Killer soundtrack and unquestionable acting power at work here. The mission is a rock that cannot be moved.
