Errol Flynn's last studio film is pretty good if nowhere near the heights of "Captain Blood" or "The Adventures of Robin Hood". It's helped greatly by Roger Livesey's supporting turn. Livesey makes every film just a little better.

well umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch.....its got a good cast of actors/actressess thorughout this movie....i think that errol flynn, roger livesey, anthony steel play good roles/parts throughout this movie.....i think that errol flynn was great as a jacobite, i think that roger livesey, anthony steel were great throughout this movie.....i think that the director of this adventure/drama/classics movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie i think that this is an enjoyable movie with a good cast throughout this movie n its a good adventure movie

Despite his age and problems with alcohol, Flynn still managed to pull off a pretty good swashbuckler here.

As much as I love Flynn and Cardiff, Master of Ballantrae wasn't amazing. Not bad, but it's far from the gloriousness that is The Sea Hawk and Captain Blood.
