The movie is by far more than that... But, just knowing that a woman, not so jung, not sexy, turns into desirable, tells about a not common movie. Turturro's shows his acting virtues and Nabokov would only be critic of the end.

An amazing performance from Turturro plays the genius chess player - who is mixed in romance, deception and tragedy. A great worthwhile movie to watch.

It has a fairly standard structure to it and is a romance above everything else, but the chess angle adds a different and suprising element to the plot workthrough. It's easy to see why Turturro with his history of playing pyschological characters, why he was chosen to play the deteriorating in mind Luzhin.
