The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (2008)

Follow Ariel's adventures before she gave up her fins for true love. When Ariel wasn't singing with her sisters, she spent time with her mother, Queen Athena. Ariel is devastated when Athena is killed by pirates, and after King Triton outlaws all singing. Along with pals Flounder and Sebastian, Ariel sets off in hopes of changing her father's decision to ban music from the kingdom.

This is one of my favorite Disney movies ever! It is so cute! Flounder is adorable, and I love Ariel's sisters. :D

I thought it was very cute. Though, I would have wanted to know why Ursula was not to return to Atlantica. I thought this movie would have at least showed a little of that. I <3 the music in this movie. I am like obsessed with "Athena's Song." This movie was better than The Little Mermaid II. Awesome!

I was excited about this movie from the first preview I saw months ago. I am happy to say it did not disappoint, especially when you consider it is a direct to video Disney prequel! The animation was absolutely gorgeous and top notch. The script was well written and very funny. The villain was entertaining and you can't help but love her sidekick. The music was great as well, although I wish there had been maybe one or two more original songs. As a passionate music lover, I could certainly relate to the storyline and the characters. Fans of the original movie will especially enjoy seeing Ariel's mother for the first time, more of her sisters and discovering how Ariel and Flounder became best friends. This film was even better than Cinderella III, which I also loved, and one I will revisit many times. Great job Disney!
