A potentially trite tale of an unlikely relationship is lifted immeasurably by Sophia Loren and is best viewed as a testament to the true power of the movie star.

How good it is to see the great Italian actress Sophia Loren as Madame Rosa. The film is a beautiful melodrama, has great performances and a good technical part.

I loved it. We are so lucky to still be able to watch the incredible Sophia Loren acting. She deserves a Oscar nomination as well as Ibrahima.

The surprises of The Life Ahead are the gentle kind: There are no wild revelations or transformations, no hyper-dramatic turnabouts. But the movie has a quietly enjoyable power.
