Tries too hard to shock us by delivering pointless scenes of blood, death and rape.

Fairly average western from the 70s with strong performances by James Coburn, and Charlton Heston, good enough supporting cast. Good entertainment, but not great.

Charlton Heston plays a retired lawman named Sam Burgade who goes after an escaped bunch of convicts led by a half breed outlaw Zach Provo (James Coburn). The hunt becomes even more personal when Heston's daughter (Barbara Hershey) is kidnapped by Provo who wants to torture Charlton Heston for killing his wife eleven years previous when he was a sheriff. Overall it's an entertaining western flick with some gory and violent scenes including sexual degradation.

It was okay did not like the two men always wanting to rape Heston's daughter.

Brutally realistic western, has Heston hunting down kidnappers of his Daughter. While most Westerns glamorize the era, this one does no such thing, it's not subtle, & not for the squeamish.
