As strange as the story behind it makes it seem. The Kid is actually a very good actor, and the movie never condescends to making him into a non-character. Sort of sweet and likable.

Something I did not expect would be as good as it was. Tom Arnold basically makes fun of himself. There are plenty of mentions of the movie True Lies. The mental disability Cerebral palsy is addressed by having the kid in the move played by someone with it. It makes for a different movie and it does have some good moments as well as a notable cast. The cameos at the end include Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. It is interesting to note that Linda Hamilton is also in the picture. Overall, if you like Tom Arnold you definitely will like this movie.

Errm, why?? Mananged to watch all of it, a TV film at best, wouldnt advise any one to pay to watch this.

Gores certainly seems to be enjoying himself, and diplomacy and plain old good taste prevent one from saying much of anything about his screen performance. Arnold doesn't merit such kindness, nor does producer and director Penelope Spheeris, whose work barely rates above the level of rote competence.

Though The Kid & I falters as both a comedy and an After School Special, it works as a rather touching episode of "This is Your Life," with a parade of cameos from Arnold's career that'll coax a sniffle or two from his family.
