The person who thought Jackie Robinson would make a good actor should be taken out back and shot.

The movie is not a great movie, but the story behind the movie is what gives the movie such a great rating!!

Here the simple story of Mr. Robinson's trail-blazing career is re-enacted with manifest fidelity and conspicuous dramatic restraint. And Mr. Robinson displays a calm assurance and composure that might be envied by many a Hollywood star.

Good movie, quite unusual though that Robinson plays himself in the movie.

Having the barrier-breaker portray himself is an excellent touch. However, from reel one onward, the film feels rushed and the acting (except Robinson's) is unnatural.
