It's just as brilliant as The Thing from Another World. It doesn't choose the way that we want it to end: that the hero will grow back to his original size and everything will go back to normal. Instead, he just continues to shrink until, well, he might be nothing. And without the hopeful monologue of his which was apparently not even in the novel, this wouldn't be a masterpiece but it sure as heck would still be fun to watch though.

Utterly brilliant and bleak 50s sci fi horror from the genius pen of Richard Matheson. I last watched this film about 35 years ago and it has lost none of its brilliance. A fantastic film that is much more than just horror or science fiction.

One of my most memorable childhood favourites, thought it wasabout time I rewatched. Still pretty terrifying during attack of the cat scene and I must have fastforwarded the end showdown as a child because I do not remember ever seeing a spider shot so up-close and personal before, horrifying. Tension is ranked up stupendously on the introduction of the house tarantula. Holds an important moral that stands true more than 50 years later - If you're an inch tall, DON'T go shaking the fucking spider web.
