Well directed and low-key effort from actor Ethan Hawke. This is about the highs and lows of first love and everything that comes before, in-between and after. The characters may seem naive and foolish at first, but they do grow on us and are very real and well-written. Good for fans of real low-budget American independent cinema!

Outstanding! Excellent work by all actors, and the dialogues are breath-taking. I simply loved the story, the message, the whole experience... nice to be reminded of how boys fall in love when young and tender.

A fine adaptation of Ethan Hawke's book, not as good though. Well directed and well acted, even from its leads including the beautiful Catalina Sandino Moreno.
